D.C.
Reeves
Art Gala
March is National Youth Art Month and the students
take part in a month long celebration of the arts. Visual arts, dance,
music, and drama are all included in this intensified study. It culminates
in "An Evening with the Arts" gala held the last week of March
each year. Teachers and students alike dress in their evening finery to
host one of the state's largest "art shows." That night special
performances take place on the outdoor stage, a huge spotlight in front
of the school can be seen from miles away, families dine together and then
tour the school to see all the wonderful work the children have done. A
special art poster drawn by a student goes on sale and the gifted artist
is available to give autographs. It is the highlight of the year at D.C.
Reeves and 2,000 visitors are in attendance each year.

Poster artists show off their masterpieces.
